Rare letter handwritten and signed by the Holy Gaon Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman about his Yeshiva in Baranowitz and sving his son from being enlisted. No year.
The letter is written on the back of an official postcard of ‘Metivta Ravta Ohel Torah’ yeshiva in Baranowitz, Poland ‘מתיבתא רבתא אהל תורה ברנוביץ פולני’ – רבין חונון וסרמן ברנוביצ’א פולניא’, handwritten entriely by the Gaon of Lithuania and one of the greatest of all generations the Holy Gaon Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman. Slightly incomplete in its upper part.
Sent on B Tavoh, without noting the year of writing.
At the beginning of the letter, he appeals for obtaining documents for his son who is supposed to appear before the recruitment committee and asks for the addressee’s help.
The upper part of the letter is incomplete; therefore, the addressee is unknown.
Later in the letter, the holy Gaon Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman appeals with a request for immediate and essential assistance for the small yeshiva beside the great yeshiva in Baranowitz. ‘It is one of the small yeshivas that survived the destruction of most due to our many sins".
Rabbi Elchonon discusses the ways to travel by train [railroad] and by bus via Lida our other ways.
21 lines written by the holy hand of the holy Gaon rabbi Elchonon Wasserman of Baranowitz. The first 7 lines are partly missing. On an official postcard of the Baranowitz Yeshiva.
