‘Rabbeinu Chaim Ozer may His Thoughts be Those of a Physician’. Early and Rare Letter Handwritten by the Mussar Gaon Rabbi Leib Chasman about Va’ad HaYeshivas in Lithuania and Poland. Fascinating!

Important letter, early and rare, hadnwritten by the Mussar Gaon Rabbi Leib Chasman author of "Or Yahel" and with his signature, sent to his friend the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Shuv, the right-hand-man of Maran the holy Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky of Vilna. Written on an official postcard of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer, about Va’ad HaYeshivas in Lithuania, support for the yeshivas of Poland and more. 1925.

The fascinating letter refers to the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer’s planned journey abroad to meet with philanthropists who want to support the study of the Torah in Lithuania and its yeshivas. ‘And if the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer is thinking of travelling abroad, it would be fitting to urge him to meet with the greatest influential rabbis and philanthropists to ask for assistance with matters of the holy Torah in yeshivas and general education, since eventually, all the meetings are like visitors visiting the sick, sighing momentarily, while the sick is turning over with pain. Only the physician wishing to cure and with G-d will take care of him and the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer may his thoughts be those of a physician rather than a mere visitor – he should be written to constantly and asked to travel abroad’.

At the beginning of the letter, he discusses various aspects, obtaining sums from R. Gurevich and establishing a yeshiva committee for the yeshivas of Poland. He also refers to what he is owed by the charity fund for his yeshiva and for "Grodno".

The letter was written on the official stationery of the Central Committee of the Yeshivas of Polish Lithuania and bears the date of the 1920s. The postmark on the back indicates that it was written in 1925.

On the back of the postcard, the blank of Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky of Vilna in a foreign language.
