Leaf handwritten by Rabbi Moshe the son of Ba’al HaTanya.

Divrei Elokim Chaim by Rabbi Moshe the son of the holy Rav HaAdmor HaZaken Ba’al HaTanya, commentary on terms in the Siddur of his father HaAdmor HaZaken.

Rabbi Moshe, the third and youngest son of HaAdmor haZaken Ba’al HaTanya, was born in ca. 1783. In the years 1802-1808, he used to repeat his father’s Divrei Chassidus. Some of the Drushim of HaAdmor HaZaken in "Torah Or" and "Likutei Torah" are, "Hanachos" of Rabbi Moshe. Eventually, Ma’amarei HaAdmor HaZaken were published from ‘Hanachos’ handwritten by Rabbi Moshe, proofread by the Admor the Tzemach Tzeddek. He also wrote his own innovations, and his writings indicate his great genius. Rabbi Moshe was the son-in-law of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Oleh. After his wedding, he served as Rav in Oleh, solving difficult Halachic Sugyos that came before him. In late 1812, he was captured by Napoleon’s army which invaded Russia, was accused of espionage and sentenced to death. The trauma led to the outbreak of a mental illness from which he suffered as a child and he was released. The tragic events he experienced since 1820 are discussed in studies. See the article by Rabbi Eliyahu Matusov "כיצד חוקרים אישים בישראל, פרק ב: הרב משה בן רבינו הזקן" in his Sefer "Ayin Tachas Ayin" (New York, 2014).

[1] leaf by Rabbi Moshe, the son of HaAdmor HaZaken Rabbi Shneur of Liadi. Similar content, with several variations was printed in Kuntras Peirush HaMilos by his brother Rabbi Dober, the Mittler Admor.

Stains and wear to the margins of the leaf. Good-very good condition.
