Worldview and zealousness! Rebuke by Maran of Satmar to the leader of HaMizrachi handwritten by the dedicated and loyal Gabai Rabbi Yossel Ashkenazi on the official stationery of Maran of Satmar.
Lengthy letter on the official staionery of Maran the holy Rav Rabbi Yoel of Satmar, in which the loyal and senior Chassid Rabbi Yosef Ashkenazi, the Gabai and confidante of Maran of Satmar, writes about a meeting between Maran and the leader of HaMizrachi Mr. Moshe Shapiro. Ca. 1950.
In the letter, the Chassid Rav Rabbi Yosef Ashkenazi denies the publications in contemporary press and especially the HaTzofeh newspaper about a warm visit of Mr. Shapiro to the holy Rav of Satmar during which allegedly, the Rav of Satmar agreed with him and spoke gently amd pleasantly to him.
Rabbi Yossel describes in detail how the Rav of Satmar rebuked Shapiro for the state of the Sabbath in Eretz Yisroel and the extensive Chilul Sabbath. Mr. Shapiro praised the ‘Law of the Sabbath’ which prevented the mass Chilul Sabbath on buses and governmental vehicles; yet the Rabbi of Satmar was not satisfied.
