Lengthy and rare letter by the holy Rav Rabbi Moshe of Stolin to the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky of Vilna about the yeshivas of Lithuania and their support. No date. early 1930s.
The holy Rav Rabbi Moshe of Stolin begins his letter with superlatives praising Maran the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer. Then he describes in detail varied fundraisers and charity collectors for the holy yeshivas, indicating his power as an important leader among Bnei Torah in Lithuania. In his letter, Rabbi Moshe Stolin notes the many funds he had raised for the yeshivas and asks that Maran the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer send the funds from America to Lithuania.
He recounts the difficulties of his yeshiva and its difficult financial situation ‘So much so that we have already thought of closing the Yeshiva, but the number of boys is increasing daily and it is impossible’.
The holy Rav Rabbi Moshe of Stolin [1889-1942] the fourth son of the renowned holy Rav Rabbi Yisroel of Karlin [also known as ‘The Frankfurter’ or the ‘Yanuka’]. Served as Admor in Stolin after the passing of his holy father and there established a large yeshiva. Many admired him and sought his advice. Was renowned for his vast knowledge of the secrets of the Torah, as well as of secular fields of knowledge. Perished in the Holocaust.
