Obtaining evidence for a marriage permit for an important Hungarian, whose daughter testified before the special Beis Din headed by the great Gaon Maran Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Wosner Rav and Av Beis Din of Zichron Meir and the future author of ‘Sheves Halevi’, that her mother – his wife, was murdered in Auschwitz.
On an early official stationery, Maran Rabbi Wosner writes the testimony and the marriage permit to prevent the chains of Cherem DeRabbeinu Gershom which forbids marrying two women.
The document, which as said was handwritten entirely by Maran the author of the Sheves Halevi, is signed by Rabbi Wosner himself, R. Yosef Yosha Friedman and R. Eliyahu Dov Glicksman.
This is a rare marriage permit (Heter Nisu’in) given to a man, unlike the more common documents of ‘Heter Agunah’ given to women. Maran Rabbi Wosner was one of the most active in the field of Heter Agunos after the war. Despite his young age, many came to him for advice and already during his first years in Eretz Yisroel he was one of the greatest rabbis who dealt with the most difficult cases of Heter Agunos.
[1] early official stationery of Maran Rabbi Wosner. 28X21 cm. Tears and slight wear to the margins. Fold marks. Aging stains. Good-very good condition.
