"And as I have received payment for my silence so far … so I will receive payment for speaking up now". Protest broadside written painfully by Rabbi David Zvi Katz Katzburg, about the damage to his livelihood as editor of the journal "Tel Talpiyos" for about ten years, by Rabbi Yosef Schwartz who started editing a competing journal and influenced by his great in-law, talked rabbis into writing for his new journal. Wietzen, Av [1900].
[1] leaf, printed on both its sides, 40 cm. Extremely rare broadside which could not be found in the catalog of the INL nor in other collections.
The content of the broadside: The writers shortly presents his life story, his economic difficulty and his success as the editor of the journal "Tel Talpiyos", which was accpeted enthusiastically in many countries in the past ten years. He complains about the publishing of the journal "Yalkus Yosef" edited by Rabbi Yosef Hacohen Schwartz, who was influnced by his in-law the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Deutsch Av Beis Din of Bonyhad, to convice rabbis who so far had written for "Tel Talpiyos" to write for him and is thus cutting off Rabbi Katzburg’s livelihood. He claims there is no benefit in two competing journals "since it is better to be part of a large group where things can be figured out according to the majority". He estimates that the competition between the two journals will lead them both to bankruptcy. The writer of the broadside complains about the curses and abuse, the threats and persecution he suffered from during this dispute and lists serious personal claims against Rabbi Hacohen Schwartz.
