Chamisha Chumshei Torah, from the Amsterdam [1749] Bible. With the Devek Tov commentary [on Rashi’s commentary]. The press of Hirtz Levi Rofeh and His son-in-law Kashman. Amsterdam, [1749].
323; 58 leaves, 23 cm. The leaf before the title page with a copper engraving is missing. A poem by the printers on the last page. With the illustrated handwritten title page on which there is a calligraphic notation by Sussman ben Rabbi Isaac Melamed of Pihem [Bohemia] from [1767] indicating that the Sefer belongs to ‘… K. Lipman Aepfin’.
The Devek Tov commentary [by Rabbi Shimon Oshenburg of Frankfurt] was printed in the Chumash already in the Amsterdam 1735 edition – yet in this edition it was first printed with the Torah and Rashi’s commentary and sections that were missing from the previous edition were added to it.
Original semi-leather binding, the leaf before the title page is missing and was replaced by a handwritten illustrated title page, the corners of the title page and the [3] leaves after it were cut = and were replaced by a paper glued to the Sefer on which the missing text was handwritten. Some gluings, aging stains, good condition.
