Background: In 1906 Shlomo Yehuda Algazi, also known as friedlander, published that he owned an olf manuscript of the entire Seder Kodashim of the Yerushalmi (a Seder that was greatly disputed as to the question whether it had existed at all). He convinced the owner of a printery in Sieni to print this Seder. Around it he authored a commentary titled Cheshek Shlomo. The printing was initally accepted with great joy by learners and even merited an approbation by Maran the Maharsham of Brezhan.

Gradually, rabbis and scholars started to doubt the reliability of this Seder. Friedlander who was furious about the damage to his reputation (and livelihood) published, under an assumed name, a booklet titled ‘Cherev Nokemes’, speaking out disrespectfully against the great Gaon Rabbi Meir Dav Plock author of the Kli Chemdah, who wrote a composition titled ‘Sha’alu Shlom Yerushalayim’, doubting the authenticity of the manuscript. later it truned out that Friedlander was a known fraud who was caught red-handed several times in the past and that even his name was fraudulent.

The Yerushalmi was brought to three Gedolei Hador the holy Rav author of Imrei Emes of Gur, Rabbi Meir Simcha of Dvinsk author of the Or Sameach and Rabbi Yosef Ruzhin – the Rogatchover, author of Tzofnas Pa’aneach, and they decided that the Seder was fraudulent.
