Letter on Matters of Charity Laden with Blessings Handwritten by the Holy Gaon Rabbi Yuda Greenwald of Satmar.


Letter of recommendation and support, by the author of ‘Zichron Yehuda’ the holy Gaon Rabbi Yuda Greenwald of Satmar, handwritten by his holy hand and with his signature, to his important disciple Rabbi Meir Eichler the father of the pedigreed Eichler family. Satmar, 1914. 

Letter of supprt and recommendation given by the author of ‘Zichron Yehuda’ the holy Gaon Rabbi Yuda Greenwald of Satmar, handwritten entirely and signed by him. To his disciple ‘The very dear Hai Nefesh’ the disciple who is renowned in his Torah and Yiras Shamayim Rabbi Meir Eichler. In his youth was the Meshamesh of the greatest rabbis of Nanash and Chust … and after describing at length his study at the yeshiva and immigration to the Holy Land and his leaving it by the doctors’ orders – the Mahari Greenwald of Satmar blesses ‘And the blessings are great and may Hashem Yisborach repay you by saving you from sorrow and may He bless you by merit of this‘. 

In his lengthy letter, the holy Gaon of Satmar describes the virtue of his dear disciple Rabbi Meir Eichler, the father of the pedigreed Eichler family and additional renowned families such as the Porush and Steinberg families. Was his leading disciple for many years and formerly, the disciple of the holy Gaon Av Beis Din of Nanash, who immigrated to the Holy Land and later returned to the Diaspora for medical reasons. 

The Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Yehuda [Yuda] Greenwald Av Beis Din of Satmar and the Rosh Yeshiva [1848-1920] one of the greatest Tzaddikim of Hungary, a disciple of the author of ‘Goren David’ and the beloved disciple of Maran the Kesav Sofer and the son-in-law of his rabbinic brother rabbi Josefow Sofer. Served as Rav in several important cities including Satmar, where he established his renowned yeshiva. Many of his disciples were Poskim and rabbis in Hungary, including the holy Gaon Rabbi Yosef Nechemya Kornitzer Av Beis Din of Krakow, Rabbi Shemaya Lev Av Beis Din of Kerestir; and many more such as the Geonim Av Beis Din of Tshimpa and Av Beis Din of Sharmash. Brought close the young Avrech in his town, the future holy Rav Rabbi Yoel of Satmar, who succeeded him as the leader of the town and its orthodox community. 

[1] official stationery with a blank. 23X15 cm. 18 lines handwritten by him, with his signature and stamp. The stamp is faded. Fold mark with wear in its center. Aging and dampness stains. Good-very good condition.
