Incisive polemic letter about the conduct of Va’ad Hayeshivos in Lithuania and Poland, written by th egreat Gaon Rabbi Yehuda leib Fein to the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky of Vilna. Slonim, 1928.
In his lengthy letter, Maran the great Gaon of Slonim writes about money that was spent unnecessarily, fundraisers that were held among the poor and additional misconduct. He writes sharply to Rabbi Chaim Ozer: ‘I see that those hiding under his garments and under the wings of Va’ad HaYeshivos are soon to destroy it G-d forbid and if they continue to speak ill about innocent people I will wash my hands of the entire matter of Va’ad HaYeshivos …’. He ends his letters with blessings and greetings to Maran Rabbi Chaim Ozer for health and the continuation of Torah enterprises.
The holy Gaon Rabbi Yehuda Leib Fein [1871-1941] one of the greatest Geonim of his generation. The Rav of Slonim and its vicinity. Previously, the Rav of Piaseczna, Kupiškis and Ushmiana in Lithuania. The president of the union of rabbis of Poland and a member of Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah. An important leader of Agudas Ysiroel. Fought against the decree of the Shechita and was famed for his public influence. Was murdered in the Holocaust with his family and members of his community.
