Pilpul on the words of Maran the Chasam Sofer – handwritten during his lifetime by his disciple and step-in-law Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Weinberger Av Beis Din of Kleinwardein.
In the Pilpul which was written to ‘my friend the wonderful righteous and great scholar, sharp and clever, perfect in virtue Rabbi Yosef‘ who discusses the words of Maran the Chasam Sofer. Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak explains and reconciles the words of his Rabbi the Chasam Sofer.
On the margins of the letter, Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak deals with a Shiduch offered to the righteous scholar, the addressee of the letter, mediates in details of how much to commit to before the Shiduch and how much after the wedding.
On the back of the leaf, a long Yiddish agreement, apparently a draft of a monetary and charity agreement. Possibly, he sent this as well to his exceptional disciple, which the letter indicates he cares for all his spiritual and material matters like a merciful father.
The Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Weinberger the Rav of Kleinwardein [Kish Varda] one of the greatest disciples of Maran the Chasam Sofer who in this letter discusses at length the Torah of his Rabbi. He served as the Rav of Freistadt in Slovakia and Bonyhad and had many disciples. In 1944, he was chosen to be the Rav of Kleinwardein, a position he held for approx. forty years until he passed away. He authored the important seforim ‘Pnei Yitzchak’ and ‘Milel LeAvraham’.
The step-in-law of Maran the Chasam Sofer, when he married his mother-in-law the Righteous Rebbetzen the widow of Rabbi Zvi Heller author of ‘Tiv Gittin’, the Rav of ‘Oiven Yashan’, today part of Budapest. Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak was the first Rabbi of the Saraf of Tosh, the Holy Rabbi Meshulim Feish.
