Handwritten editings by the great Gaon Rabbi David Deutch, written on a sheet of his sefer ‘Ohel David’ on Tractates Pesachim, Sukkah, Chagiga, and Yoma. Vienna [1820]


Sefer ‘Ohel David’, on Tractates Pesachim, Sukkah, Chagiga and Yoma. Authored by the great Gaon Rabbi David Deutch, one of the leading rabbis of Hungary. Vienna 1820. (This edition is a continuation of the sefer that was published a year before.) With many editings on the margins of the pages handwritten by the holy author Rabbi David Deutch. Some are written in Rashi script.

The Gaon Rabbi David Deutch (1755-1831), one of the leading rabbis of Hungary renowned all over the world for his exceptional holiness. Rosh Yeshiva, Rav of Jemnice, Rav and Av Beis Din of Frauenkirchen, Rav of Serdehely, and from 1810 served as Rav in Nove Mesto ("New Town"). Was a revered disciple of Maran the Chasam Sofer who spoke of him with  great admiration. The Chasam Sofer once saw him sleeping on the floor and commanded a fast for this. Was also a disciple of the Mahram Berabi and close disciple of Maran the Noda BiYehuda, who wrote him dozens of responses in his famous sefer. His innovations were published in the series of seforim ‘Ohel David’ (1719-1867) and in additional seforim.

Some wear to the margins of the leaves, stains, new binding, good – very good general condition.
