Two Seforim by leading Hungarian rabbis bound together: Ohel David, innovations on tractates of the Shas, second edition (Ungvar, 1867) and Ma’amar Ester, Aggadic Drushim and more, single edition (Offen, 1832). 

* Sefer Ohel David, innovations on varied tractates, by Rabbi David Deutch. Karl Jaeger’s Wittwe Press, Ungvar 1867. With innovations on many tractates that were not previously printed and with many additions to the innovations that were printed in the previous edition. 

64 leaves, 26 cm. Foreword by the author’s grandson Rabbi Menachem ben Rabbi Yechezkel Deutch and by Rabbi Menachem ben Rabbi Meir Esh [Eisenstadt] Av Beis Din of Chust who succeeded his father the Maharam Esh as Rav of Ungvar; they also added comments inside the Sefer. At its end, "Avnei Zikaron" and "She’eris Menachem" by Rabbi Menachem Deutch. On the title page, the handwritten signature of Rabbi Meir Esh [Eisenstadt], Rabbi Menachem Eisenstadt’s son. 

The Gaon Rabbi David Deutch (1755-1831), one of the leading rabbis of Hungary renowned all over the world for his exceptional holiness. Rosh Yeshiva, Rav of Jemnice, Rav and abd of Frauenkirchen, Rav of Serdehely, and from 1810 served as Rav in Nove Mesto ("New Town"). Was a revered disciple of Maran the Chasam Sofer who spoke of him with great admiration. The Chasam Sofer once saw him sleeping on the floor and commanded a fast for this. Was also a disciple of the Mahram Berabi and close disciple of Maran the Noda BiYehuda, who wrote him dozens of responses in his famous Sefer. His innovations were published in the series of seforim ‘Ohel David’ (1719-1867) and in additional seforim.

5-84 leaves, 26 cm. Incomplete copy, without the title page, the [3] first leaves and the [3] leaves of indices at the end of the Sefer. 

The Sefer was approbated by the Chasam Sofer, who indicated that he himself had heard the author’s sermons and understood their virtue. 

The Gaon Rabbi Binyomin Ze’ev Wolf of Baskowitz (1745-1818) one of the rabbis of Hungary (who also served as Rav in varied communities of Bohemia and Moravia). A close friend of Maran the Chasam Sofer (they met when the Chasam Sofer was staying in Frostiz, where Rabbi Binyomin Ze’ev Wolf served as Av Beis Din since 1784).  

Stains, blemishes to the margins of some leaves, gluing to the last leaf, incomplete copy, fair-good condition.
