The Maharchash, Rabbi Chaim Shabtai ben Rabbi Shabtai (1557-1647), one of the rabbis of Salonika and one of the greatest Poskim of his generation. A disciple of Rabbi Aharon Sasson author of Toras Emes, the Maharshdam, and the Maharshach. Dayan of the Beis Din of his Rav Rabbi Aharon Sasson and the Rosh Yeshiva of the large yeshiva of the Kehilas Sholom in Salonika for forty years. Since 1638, served as the Chief Rabbi of Salonika. Sent hundreds of responses to many countries and corresponded with the greatest rabbis of his generation. His responsa was published in his renowned Sefer "Toras Chaim". Authored innovations on the Shas, Piskei Halachos and Sefer Drushim yet many of his writings were lost over the years.
Renewed semi-leather binding with gilt lettering, blemishes and restoration to the title page, stains, some moth holes and short tears, the last leaf is missing and was completed by hand, good condition.
