LaYesharim Tehilah, Shir Yedidus by Rabbeinu the Ramchal (written for the wedding day of his friend Rabbi Yaakov de Gavish), Lemberg, 1799.
Rabbeinu the Ramchal Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto (1707-1744) one of the greatest Kabbalists. The Ramchal was born in Padova to Rabbi Yaakov Chai. There he was educated and studied Torah with his leading Rav Rabbi Yeshaya Bassan. He also studied secular studies. In 1722 Rabbi Yeshaya left the yeshiva in Padova and moved to Regio to serve as Rav. The Ramchal joined the "Mevakshei Hashem" group of learners and later became their Rav and leader. The Ramchal studied Kabbalah from a Maggid that was sent to him. When this came out, it infuriated the greatest fighters against the aftermath of the Sabbateans headed by Rabbi Moshe Hagiz. The Ramchal was forced to take an oath before the rabbis of Venice not to study Yichudim and not to write Seforim in the language of the Zohar, an oath he addressed as invalid (since he was forced to take it).
The Ramchal traveled through varied cities (Padova, Frankfurt and Amsterdam, among others). Eventually he immigrated to the Holy Land where he passed away at a young age.
