Mekorei Minhagim, by Rabbi Avraham Levinsohn. Berlin, 1846.
The customs adopted by Bnei Yisroels, both erroneous customs as well as good ones, and customs that might change, by Rabbi Avraham Levinsohn Rav in Peiskretsham. L. Th. Korness Press, Berlin, 1846.
143, [1] pp. 21 cm. Stickers of "Gleiwitz, Verlag von Philipp Karfunkel, 1857" were glued onto the title page. 100 chapters. Several handwritten comments were added.
In (1851) Yosef Finkelstein printed in Vienna a Sefer titled "Mekorei HaMinhagim", containing 41 chapters which were word for word like this Sefer, with omissions and abbreviations. It seems that Finkelstein had copied Levinsohn’s Sefer. Finkelstein, however, claimed in the "HaMaggid" newspaper that Levinsohn had received the manuscript from him to be published on his behalf, yet abused his office, publishing the Sefer under his own name.
Aging stains, moth holes, fair-good condition.
