Rabbi Shimon ben Tzemach Duran, the Rashbatz (1361-1444), one of the Rishonim. Born in Spain and was the disciple of Rabbi Vidal Ephraim the disciple of the Ran. During the pogroms of 1391, he escaped to Algeria, where he became the discipe of the Ribash and eventually succeeded him as the Rav of Algiers. Author of Shut HaTashbetz and additional Seforim.
The great Gaon Rabbeinu Moshe Schick the ‘Maharam Schick’ [1807-1879] the greatest disciple of Maran the Chasam Sofer. The Rav of Chust and Rosh Yeshiva of its large yeshiva. His Rav, the Chasam Sofer, said of him that he was ‘Mainer Seforim Shafeh’ [My bookcase]. His Pesakim were accepted admiringly in Austro-Hungary and then in the entire Jewish world. In addition, he was the indisputable leader of Hungary Jewry of his generation. Authored renowned innovations on the Shas and Shur.
Partly detached bindig, aging and dampness stains, tears to the two last leaves, fair-good condition.
