Certificate appointing Rabbi Yosef Yehuda Sofer Av Beis Din of Paks as the Gabai of the Ozer Dalim society of the Kollelos Ashkenazim of Tiberius. Signed by rabbis and Gaba’im, members of the society. Tiberius, 1900-1910.
"כתר שם טוב ונזר הגבאות… הרב ר’ יוסף יהודא סופר… אבדק"ק פאקש… לכבדהו ולעטרהו בנזר הרוממה והנעלה הגבאות… לגזבר ואמרכל חבורתנו הקדושה עוזר דלים". Tiberius, after the winter of 1903.
[1] leaf, graph paper, 37 cm. Calligraphic script in black ink and gilt ink. Decorated with verses on the upper part and sides of the certificate. With the signature and stamps of the Gabaim of the Ozer Dalim society: Rabbi Avraham Dimant Rosh Yeshiva and Moreh Tzeddek in Tiberius and Rabbi Eliyahu ben Rabbi Yosef Heisler, and with the signature of Rabbi Mordechai Noah and the stamp of the Ozer Dalim society of Tiberius: "עוזר דלים דכוללות אשכנזים לטובת כלל (ישראל אחינו) בעיה"ק טבריא ת"ו".
Rabbi Yosef Yehuda Sofer (1861-1918) the son of the holy Gaon Rabbi Zussman Sofer. A student of the Pressburg and Bonyhad yeshivas. Since the winter of 1903, succeeded his father as Av Beis Din of Paks. Author of the renowned Seforim Yalkus Sofer on the Torah and Likutei Sofer on Taryag Mitzvos. Married Mrs. Rochl the daughter of Rabbi Yehuda Leib Segal Folk, the leading disicple of the Gaon Rabbi Yehuda Assad and of the holy Rav the Yitav Lev of Siget.
