Historical and important! The plan of the holy Maran the Admor of Satmar to settle down for at least six months in the Holy Land, several months before the outbreak of the terrible World War II in Europe, handwritten by his senior disciple the Chassid Rabbi Leib Pashkes of Sakmar. 1939.
A letter that was written on Parashas Tazri’ah, 1939.
To the rabbinic Chassid Rabbi Zvi Pinchas Hacohen Moskowitz of Jerusalem, a dignitary and leader of Kollel Munkatch, founder of the Ohel Rachel synagogue of Satmar and confidante of the holy Rav of Schotz.
In the letter, Rabbi Leibl, who merited studying Chevruta with Maran of Satmar, describes the great desire of Maran of Satmar to immigrate to the Holy Land, specifying what is needed for his place of residence, the size of the apartment and the number of rooms. An apartment is also needed for his son-in-law the Tzaddik Rav of Semihali, Rabbi Chanaya Yom Tov Lipa Mayer-Teitelbaum of Sassov.
The factors preventing Maran of Satmar from immigrating are the high cost of living in Eretz Yisroel and the lack of clarity due to the clash of swords that was starting to be heard in Europe and Eretz Yisroel.
Reading this letter one can but wonder what the holy Rav of Satmar could have worked in Eretz Yisroel before the terrible war with his holy Avodah, pure prayer and piety. Surely, his disciples would have immigrated with him and thus would have been saved from the terrible fire.
The trip, of course, due to the troublous times, did not then come to pass and only six years later did Rabbeinu immigrate to Eretz Yisroel, having suffered the atrocities of the extermination camps.
