A leaf handwritten by the Av Beis Din of Brody, Rabbi Meir Kristianpoler, author of Yad HaMeir, Grandfather of Moron Rabbi Yehoshua of Belz, about Heiter Agunah.
A completion handwritten by Rabbi Meir Kristianpoler of a responsum by the Gaon author of the Beis Ephraim on the law of the loyalty of a woman who committed adultery to say he has passed away.
[1] leaf, written on both its sides, 25 cm. This leaf is a completion of a responsum pertaining to an Agunah, whose husband, according to evidence from the Jass community, had passed away. The leaf was written separately since it clarifies that the Agunah had committed adultery and the writes notes that he did not want to include it in the first Kuntres ‘so as not to shame the daughters of Yisroel’. Enclosed is confirmation by an expert indicating that the leaf was handwritten by Rabbi Meir Kristianpoler and information about him.
The Gaon Rav Rabbi Meir Kristianpoler (1740-1815) author of Sefer Yad HaMeir served as Rav in Bilkomin, Av Beis Din of Glona and of Kristianpoly. Later, he moved to teach at the famed Kloiz of Brody and since 1789 was Rav of Brody and the vicinity. Was renowned as a Divine holy man and was described by the Chida as the "Great famed Gaon Av Beis Din and Ram of Brody during the days of the Gaon author of the Beis Ephraim…’ (his entry in Shem HaGedolim HaChadash). The son of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Av Beis Din of Bilkomin and Dayan in Lvov. Rabbi Meir corresponded with Gedolei Hador, who referred to him in Sifrei Shut. The Gaon the Nodah BiYehuda greatly appreciated him, printing a eulogy for him. His son-in-law, Rabbi Moshe Ephraim Ashkenazi, was Av Beis Din of Kalisch.
Fold marks, stains, tears and wear to the edges of the leaf, good condition.
