Fascinating letter handwritten and signed by Maran the great Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinski of Vilna to the Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Botchko the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Montreux, Switzerland, one medical matters, with an important reference to the severe situation developing in Germany during the rise of Nazism. Vilna, 1932.
A letter sent by Rabbi Chaim Ozer to the Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Botchko, the head and founder of the Etz Chaim Yeshiva. He writes that he was sorry to hear about the asthma of Rabbi Botchko’s wife, sends warm blessing for her recovery and mentions that there is a physician in Leipzig who can cure asthma. Nevertheless, Rabbi Chaim Ozer also adds that ‘this is no time to travel to Ashkenaz…‘ this, of course, because of the terrible situation there due to the rise of Nazism.
In the last line, the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer writes on behalf of wife the Rebbetzin: "My wife takes interest in their well-being".
The great Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinski of Vilna author of Achi’ezer. The Rav of the entire Diaspora. President of Mo’etzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisroel and one of its founders. passed away in 1940.
The Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Botchko [1888-1956] the founder of the Etz Chaim Yeshiva of Montreux. A disciple of the Saba of Novhardok. Had thousands of disciples in Switzerland. One of the leaders of Agudas Yisroel. Saved many Jews during World War II>
