Confirmation and the handwritten signature by the holy Gaon author of the Machaneh Chaim on a birth certificate. Gyömöre, Hungary. 1852.
Signature of the holy Gaon Rabbi Chaim Sofer, who was the Rav of the county: "Joachim Schriber", on the birth certificate of Rosy Abeles, who was born in 1839. Gyömöre, 1852.
The upper part of the document is signed by two witnesses. Appearing on the lower part is confirmation of the county Rav, Rabbi Chaim Sofer, and his signature. With an almost complete wax seal and an embossed stamp of the authorities.
The Holy Gaon Rabbi Chaim Sofer the ‘Machaneh Chaim’ [1822-1886] author of the ‘Machaneh Chaim’ Seforim. One of the greatest Poskim of Hungary. Succeeded his Rav, Maran the Chasam Sofer in fighting Milchemes Hashem Bagiborim by isolating from the Neological communities. He also studied with Maran the Kesav Sofer, the Maharam Esh, the Holy Gaon Rabbi Binyomin Wolf Loew author of ‘Sha’arei Torah’ and with Rabbi Hillel of Kalmay. Served as the Rav of several important communities and was appointed the Rav of the community of Munkatch, one of the largest and most important communities in Hungary of those days. In 1879, he became the Rav of the orthodox community of Budapest and was the first to hold the position after the separation of the communities of Hungary.
