‘G-d has gifted me with this Sefer – Shlomo Zalman Ehrenreich’ Sefer Pe’as HaShulchan – Safed, 1836 – first edition. A copy signed by the holy Gaon the Rav of Shamloy and the vicinity.
The Sefer, by the holy Gaon Rabbi Yisroel of Shklow, a leading disciple of Rabbeinu the Chassid Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu of Vilna and one of the greatest leaders of the immigration of the disciples of the Gaon. Printed for the first time, in the author’s lifetime, in Safed by Rabbi Yisroel Bak. 1836.
The Sefer has great historical importance: in his introduction, the author describes their immigration to the Holy Land and the plagues and disasters they encountered. He also admiringly recalls the biography of the Vilna Gaon and more.
The terrible earthquake in Safed in 1837 caused the Jewish Yishuv, including the author, the printer and his printery, to move to Jerusalem. Thus, this Sefer is one of the last that was printed in Safed before the earthquake.
This copy: the personal copy with the handwritten signature of the holy Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ehrenreich. In addition, the rare stamp ‘הושט כשר בבדיקה – שלמה זלמן עהרנרייך’, from the giving of Kashrus by Rabbeinu of Shamloy. Stamps of his son the Gaon Rav Chaim.
The holy Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ehrenreich [1863-1944] Av Beis Din of Shamloy. One of the greatest Poskim of his generation. Author of the Lechem Shlomo Shlomo and approx. forty additional composition. The grandson of the holy Gaon author of Kol Aryeh who raised him and taught him Torah. A leading disciple of the holy Rav author of Kedushas Yom Tov of Siget and a Chassid of his son the holy Rav Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum of Satmar. Perished with his community during the Holocaust.
