Early copy of the Chasam Sofer’s last will and testament, handwritten, with dozens of slight variations compared to the printed version of Tzavas Moshe. The 19th century.

Manuscript, an early copy of the Chasam Sofer’s last will and testament, which preceded the publishing of Sefer Tzavas Moshe and is more accurate.

[2] pp. [50] lines, 22 cm. Clear script. Enclosed is a leaf marking dozens of textual variations compared to the printed version of Sefer Tzavas Moshe (Vienna, 1863). Enclosed is also a photocopy of part of the original will and the version of the original will from Sefer HaZikaron (Jerusalem, 1957), indicating that this copy is almost identical to the original version.

"The descendants of Maran had Maran’s last will and testament until the Holocaust. Although the original manuscript was lost during those days of horror, fortunately, a photocopy still exists and a photocopy of the original was printed in Sefer HaZikaron in 1956 … few are Mussar lessons which are small in number yet were printed so many times, as the Chasam Sofer’s last will and testament" (Avraham Halevi Shisha, "Bibliographical Notes on the Books of the Chasam Sofer and His Responses" (in Hebrew), HaMa’ayan, volume 9, issue 2, Jerusalem, 1969, pp. 82-82).

Stains, fold lines with wear along them, fair-good condition.
