וכיפר על הקודש – the pipe ‘Lolkeh’ of Marana Or Shivas Hayamim the Holy Ba’al Shem Tov which was treasured by his pious grandsons, generation after generation.
The pipe, ‘Lolkeh Tzibech’, with which Marana the Holy Ba’al Shem Tov did his Avodah and which was treasured by the pedigreed Twersky family, generation after generation.
The pedigreed Twersky family is a descendant of the Ba’al Shem Tov through the holy Rav Rabbi Mordechai Dov of Horonsteipel the son of the holy Rav Rabbi Meshulam Zussia Auerbach and the son-in-law of Maran the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. The holy Rav Rabbi Mordechai Dov was the son of the daughter of the holy Rav Rabbi Yaakov Yisroel of Cherkas and from him began the dynasty of Horonsteipel.
The grandfather of the grandfather of the holy Rav Rabbi Meshulam Zussia Auerbach was the holy Rav Rabbi Zvi, the only son of Maran the holy Besht. The son of the holy Rav Rabbi Mordechai Dov of Horonsteipel, the holy Rav Ben Zion Yehuda Leib of Horonsteipel New York, inherited the Lolkeh with additional precious items , many of which were exhibited at the Chassidus exhibition in Tel Aviv on the 200th Yahrzeit of the Besht. The family also had another pedigreed item, the Ketubah of the holy Rav of Cherkas, signed by the Tzaddikim Maran the Admor HaZaken Ba;al HaTanya and the holy Rav of Chernobyl.
The son of the holy Rav Rabbi Ben Zion Leib of Horonosteipel, Rabbi Menachem Nachum Twersky of Tel Aviv, had owned this sepcial item and he is th eone who gave it to the Tiferes Auction House.
Following is the pedigree of the Lolkeh:
Or Shivas Hayamim the Holy Ba’al Shem Tov
2. His son the holy Rav Rabbi Zvi 3. his son the holy Rav Rabbi Dov Ber of Olinov 4. His daughter the Rebbetzin Mrs. Sima and his son-in-law the holy Rav Rabbi Menachem Mendil Auerbach 5. His son the holy Rav Rabbi Yechiel Michl Auerbach 6. His son the holy Rav Rabbi Meshulam Zussia Auerbach of Tlomach the son-in-law of the holy Rav of Cherkas 7. His son the holy Rav Rabbi Mordechai Dov of Horonsteipel the son-in-law of Maran the Divrei Chaim 8. His son the holy Rav Rabbi Ben Zion Yehuda leib of Horonsteipel in Chicago 9. His son the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Menachem Nachum Twersky of Tel Aviv the son-in-law of the Admor of Skranvich 10. Their son-in-law and daughter, the members of the sellers’ family.
The Avodah of Tzaddikim while smoking the pipe is incomprehensible. Yet, it is known among the Chassidim and passed on admiringly that this Avodas Kodesh contains many Kavanos and Remazim, always being covered by smoke; one handbreadth revealed covering thousands of hidden ones.
The Avodas Hakoddesh of Marana Or Shivas Hayamim the Holy Ba’al Shem Tov is exalted and lofty. His brother-in-law, the holy Rav Rabbi Gershon Kitover said with reverence: I wish I would have Olam Haba, only what the holy Ba’al Shem Tov achieves with smoking but one of his pipes (Lolkeh).
An awe-inspiring story was told by the holy Rav Rabbi Chaim meir of Vizhnitz the author of the Imrei Chaim: the holy Rav of Ruzhin used to smoke a lot. Once, his son the holy Rav of Chertkov [or his son the holy Rav of Sadigura] came to him and asked him: "Tateh, why do you smoke so much, knowing that it is unhealthy? The Saba Kaddisha of Ruzhin answered: "ווען דו זאלסט וויסין וואס איך טו אויף מיט איין ציה אין לילקע, וואלסטי געהאלטין א גאנצע צייט אין-איין גיסען טאבאק!!" ["Had you known what I do with one inhalation of the pipe, you would be standing beside me filling it with tobacco constantly"]
