Commentary on several Aggados, by Rabbeinu the Gaon Chassid Rabbi Eliyahu of Vilna, published by his sons. Josephat Mirski Press, Vilna, [1800]. First and rare edition that was published several years after HaGra’s passing. With a foreword by his sons and his great disciple Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin.
[3], 13 [i.e. 15] leaves. Incomplete copy – without the last leaf. Owner’s signature, stamps of "Chaim ben Rabbi Yaakov Kopel [Reich?]" and Rabbi David Mazovitzky. With a commentary by the Rashbam and HaGra on Aggados Rabba Bar Bar Chana [with the text], Rashi’s commentary and HaGra’s commentary on Aggadas Savei Dvei Atuna [with the text] and HaGra’s commentary on Aggados from Tractate Shabbas. Printed on the last leaf – which is missing from this copy – was HaGra’s commentary on an Aggada of Tractate Sotah, leaf 21 [with the text].
The Gaon Rabbi David Mazovitzky – Rav of the Jewish colony of Argentine. In the archive of the National Library there is a letter in which he describes his journey to Argentine.
No binding, blemishes and restoration to the title page, stains, last leaf missing, fair condition.
