HaTashbetz Shut – First edition. Amsterdam, 1738.

Elegant copy, well-preserved, bound in a special, original ‘fish scale’ binding as published about the bindings of the many Seforim of the Gaon author Rabbi Shimon ben Tzemach Duran.

Special first edition. A rare copy containing seven illustrated title pages whereas most of the other copies of this edition contain only 4 title pages.

The impressive library of the Gaon the Tashbetz was known for the bindings of its Seforim. The Tashbetz used to preserve his Seforim by binding them in bright, fine, artistic ‘fish scale’ bindings, named so due to their similarity to fish scales.

[12], 91, [1], 69, [2], 101, [1] leaves. 31.5 cm. 7 title pages. There are copies of this edition with only 4 title pages; yet, this is an impressive, complete copy with 7 title pages. Bright leather ‘fish scale’ binding, some moth perforations to binding. Very good condition.
