letter handwritten by the great Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinski of Vilna, the president of Va’ad HaYeshivas of Poland and Lithuania, dealing with supporting the yeshivas. No date.
The letter begins with the words ‘If indeed I am not responsible at all, anyway, this, the right thing to do with charity money is to give from mine to Kollel Grodno". He continues to describe the difficult material situation in Poland and estimates the value of the amount after the money is exchanged in Poland.
The Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer ends the letter with varied blessings and his full signature.
It is interesting to note that on the upper part of the leaf, there is a line handwritten by the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer with weak ink: ‘If we can save’.
The great Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinski of Vilna author of Achi’ezer. The Rav of the entire Diaspora. President of Mo’etzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisroel and one of its founders. Was a most influential figure, especially during the period between the two world wars. Passed away in 1940.
