Letter on varied family matters handwritten and sent by The Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Gimpel Yaffe to his son Rabbi Yaakov.
The Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Gimpel Yaffe Rabinowitz (1820-1891) Av Beis Din of Rozhinai. One of the greatest rabbis of Lithuania in his generation. A disciple of Rabbi Yitzchak ben Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin author of Nefesh HaChaim. Acted for Shivas Zion and even had close ties with Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Kalischer (a disciple of the Gaon Rabbi Akiva Eiger, the initiator of the polemic regarding sacrifices at this time) and Rabbi Shmuel Mohilever. At the end of his days, he immigrated to Israel and settled in Ekron. His son Rabbi Yaakov lived in Lutzin and was the Rav of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Hacohen Kook in his youth.
