Sefer Leshon Chachamim, I-II, compiled from Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim and Yoreh Deah, Rishonim and Acharonim, by Rabbi Baruch Yehuda Brandes. First edition. The personal copy of Rabbi Meir Eisenstadt and of Rabbi Kalman Segal Bettelheim of Pressburg. 

[4], 97, [6]; [1], 48, [4] leaves, 20 cm. Many owner’s notation and signatures including by Rabbi Meir Eisenstadt and Rabbi Kalman Segal Bettelheim.

Rabbi Meir Eisenstadt, the Maharam Esh (1780-1852), Rosh Yeshiva, Posek, one of the greatest rabbis and leaders of Orthodox Jewry of Hungary. Was one of the first disciples of the Chasam Sofer in Mattersdorf and Pressburg. Served as Av Beis Din of Baya and Ungvar. 

Rabbi Kalman Segal Bettelheim (1801-1864), the son of Rabbi Nota Halevi and the son-in-law of Rabbi Daniel Prostitz Rosh Av Beis Din of Pressburg in the period of the Chasam Sofer. In his youth, Rabbi Kalman was a leading disciple of the Chasam Sofer. Was a diligent Torah scholar. In a letter to him, Rabbi Hillel Lichtenstein refers to him as "Ish Chamudos … HaMa’or Hagadol Tzaddik Kabir". Served as the leader of the Pressburg community and stood beside his teacher the Chasam Sofer in the moments before his passing. 

Worn, partly dismantled semi-leather binding, stains, folds to the corners of some leaves, fair-good condition.
