The Divine Kabbalist Rabbeinu Chaim Vital [1542-1620], the greatest disciple of the Holy Ari who edited his manuscripts. Born in Safed to Rabbi Yosef Calabrese.
who immigrated to Eretz Yisroel from Southern Italy. At the age of 14 he began to study at the Beis Midrash of Maharam Alshich and continued at the Beis Medrash of the holy Ramak. There was the greatest turning point of his life as in the year 1570 the Holy Ari immigrated from Egypt to Eretz Yisroel and joined the scholars of the Beis Medrash. Rabbi Chaim clung to the holy Ariz and became his revered disciple. After several months when the holy Ramak passed away the Holy Ari became the leader of the Beis Midrash. This period did not last for long, since the Holy Ari passed away after two years. (There are awesome descriptions of the funeral of the Holy Ari and the grief of Rabbi Chaim Vital). Most disciples of the Holy Ari accepted him as their Rav and leader. Rabbi Chaim collected from them the manuscripts of the Holy Ariz and edited them.
The leaf is placed in an impressive leather binding, stains, professional restoration to the corner of the leaf, good-very good condition.
