The Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Heller (1803-1884) was born in Zlotchov and was one of those who saw the face of the holy Rav Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak, the Chozeh of Lublin, his grandfather Rabbi Avraham being one of the Chozeh’s confidantes. As a child, he immigrated with his family to the Holy Land and settled in Safed. After the passing of the holy Rav Rabbi Avraham Dov Maveritch author of the Bas Ayin, he succeeded him as the Rav of Safed.
