First edition of one of the basic Chassidic Seforim: Avodas Yisroel by the Maggid the holy Rav Rabbi Yisroel of Kozhnitz. Josefow press, 1842.
The virtue and importance of the holy Sefer Avodas Yisroel goes without saying. It is hailed by the holy ones, the holy Rav Rabbi Yechezkel of Shinava saying that "all the Seforim by the Tzaddikim the disciples of the holy Besht are holy, and Sefer Avodas Yisroel is holy of holies".
He was born after his father, the hidden Tzaddik Rabbi Shabtai merited the blessing of the Besht who ordered that he be named after him. The greatest Tzaddikim were his disciples.
The Sefer was published with the approbation and efforts of his grandson the holy Rav the Saraf of Mogelnitza, by means of his son-in-law the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Avraham Elchonon and was approbated by his disciples the holy Rav the Saba Kaddisha of Radoshitz, Rabbi Yitzchak of Vorka, the Chidushei HaRim of Warsaw and Rabbi Yeshaya Mushket of Prague.
[3], 90; 32 leaves. 20.5 cm. Most of the leaves are on bluish paper. Impaired cutting of the leaves during the printing process, affecting the headings of some pages. The copy contains the table of errors. Aging stains. Moth perforations. New, fine leather binding. Good condition.
