Rabbi Yeshaya Shimshon ben Rabbi Moshe Eliyahu Shas (1870-1932). Was born in Zsély, Lithuania. In 1885, he was a disciple of the Natziv at the Volozhin Yeshiva and was renowned as a sharp and knowledgeable student. After returning to Zsély, established there a small yeshiva for the boys of the town and delivered lessons and sermons to the residents of the town. After his wedding, he moved to Vilna where he served as a Maggid Meisharim for approx. forty years. Was famed for the sermons he used to deliver in many Batei Midrashos in the town, especially in that of the Chevrah Kaddisha. He also delivered regular Torah lessons, founded Chavuros and united all the Darshanim and Marbitzei Torah. Rabbi Yeshaya Shimshon passed away while editing his Sefer Yeshu’os Shimshon.
