Tractate Megilah, of the Babylonian Talmud, with commentators. Published by the Ezras Torah library by the Mir Yeshiva [Shnghai], [1946].
39, 6, 16, [4] leaves, 26 cm. Small facsimile edition of Shas Vilna, Rom. This tractate is not included in the list of tractates of this edition appearing in the catalog of the National Library and does not appear in the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book.
This Sefer was published by Holocaust refugees who escaped from Lithuania using visas issued by the Righteous Among the Nations, the Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara, who acted contrary to the instructions of his superiors at the Japanese Foreign Office. The refugees, including many students of the Mir Yeshiva, travelled by the trans-Siberian train and then sailed to Japan, eventually reaching Shanghai. In order to overcome the problem of lack of Sifrei Shas, Rishonim, Acharonim and more, copies of Seforim were made using offset printing. About the printing of Sifrei Kodesh in Shanghai, see Sefer Nes Hahatzalah shel Yeshivas Mir (Jerusalem, 1977), pp. 101-103.
New binding, small blemish to the title page not affecting the text. Good-very good condition.
