The holy Gaon the Divine Kabbalist Rabbeinu Menachem Azarya of Fano (1548 – 1620) one of the greatest Kabbalists and Poskim of his generation. Rosh Yeshiva of a large Italian yeshiva. Revered by Gedolei HaDoros. Maran the Chasam Sofer titled him ‘The Father of the Kabbalists’; Maran the Ya’avetz and Rabbeinu Yonosson Eibeschutz stated that he is ‘the great Rav, holy and pure’. Authored the Shut HaRema MiFano and additional important and Kabbalistic Seforim. His customs are the cornerstone of Italian customs.
