The author’s name is implied on the title pages in the beginning and ends of the words. The translation is in Tzor letters, With a poem on Mitzvos Asseh by Rabbi Shlomo ben Gabirol (first pagination, leaf 47, 2-48), a list of Jewish philanthropists who were close to the Austrian emperors, letter of Rav Chasdar to King Elkazar and the response of the Tugremi king (second pagination: leaf 42, 2-45, 1), version of a Gett (ibid. leaf 60, 2), a poem praising the Sefer (ibid. 71, 2) and a poem on Mitzvos Asseh by Rabbi Shlomo ben Gabirol (ibid. leaf 71, 2-72),
Printed on leaf [6] is a leaf of corrections. Before the second pagination is an additional leaf of corrections, with variations.
In each of the copies appearing in the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book, only one of these two leaves appear. Partly erased ownership stamp on the title page.
Background: The preface of the author, Rabbi Yisroel Landau (1758-1829) and the approbations indicate that this Sefer was written in response to the laxity in the study of the Torah and observance of Mitzvos during the Enlightenment. In response, this Sefer was written "in the language of the masses" (German) to bring the simple people closer to the Torah and teach them the source of the Mitzvos.
Wear to the original leather binding, aging stains, good condition.
