Important letter handwritten by the great Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro, the Rav of Volozhin and its Rosh Yeshiva to the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Shuv, the right hand man of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer of Vilna, on contemporary public matters. Teves, 1927. 

On the historical official stationery of the ‘Holy ancient yeshiva Etz Chaim of Volozhin’, a letter handwritten and signed by the Gaon the Mahari Shapiro. The letter deals with the matters of Rabbi Yosef Teverowitz, an emissary of the Volozhin Yeshiva who was travelling to Vilna in attempt to raise funds and stir up public opinion for supporting the Talmud Torah of Volozhin. 

Later, the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov asks Rabbi Chaim Ozer’s right hand man, the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Shuv, to send an excellent Rav Darshan to their city, to increase the support of the yeshivas and to organize a rally for them. 

The great Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro [1873-1936] Rav and Rosh Yeshiva of Volozhin who re-established the yeshiva after World War I, one of the greatest Geonim of his generation. The son of the Gaon Rabbi Raphael, the son-in-law of the Natziv of Volozhin, the disciple of the his great brother-in-law Rabbi Chaim of Brisk.
