Postcard letter handwritten and signed by the great Gaon Rabbi Moshe Shatzkes expressing his gratitude to a supporter of the yeshiva and orphanage. Yiddish. Ivye, 1924. 

In his letter, which is written in Yiddish, and was sent to Ohio, USA, ‘to my dear rabbinic and truly pious friend’ Rabbi Y.S. Beredpvich, he thanks him for sending the considerable amount of money for the orphanage of Ivye. 

The great Gaon Rabbi Moshe Shatzkes [1881-1959] one of the greatest rabbis of Lithuania and the USA. His mother married the holy Gaon Rabbi Itzeleh Blaser and he was raised by him. Studied at the Slabodka and Telz yeshivas and was a leading disciple of the great Geonim Rabbi Raphael Shapiro abd Rabbi Elezer Gordon. Served as Rav in Lipnishok, Ivye and eventually, as Av Beis Din of Lomzha. Succeeded Rabbi Shimon Shkop as Rosh Yeshiva of Grodno and after escaping to the USA was appointed Rosh Yeshiva of Rabbeinu Yitzchaok Elchonon. 

Postmarked postcard. 9X14 cm. Handwritten and signed by him and with his stamp. Slight wear. Very good condition.
