Sharp polemic letter by the great Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Yerucham Diskin to the Shechita committee of Jerusalem. Tevet, 1920.
Letter handwritten by a scribe, signed by the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Yerucham Diskin, the son of the Rav of Jerusalem Maran the Maharil Diskin, in which he complains about the poor state of the Shechita committee ‘who clearly do not address questions of Kashrus and have deviated from the path and the sacred purpose for which father the Chassid Gaon established the committee, their top priority being Dinei Mamonos only, after the method of ‘Kol DeAlim Gavar’ (the strong dominate)…‘
The Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Yerucham Diskin [1839-1925] Gedol HaDor. The only son of the Gaon Maran the Maharil Diskin who was admiringly called "The Saraf of Brisk". After his father’s passing, the leaders of the old Yishuv in Jerusalem asked him to immigrate to the Holy Land to head the institutions and lead the community. However, only after the passing of the Rav of Jeruslem Rabbi Shmuel Salant did he actually succeed him, although he did not hold the official position. He bravely fought the war of religion and was one of the builders of Jerusalem and the Temple.
