Letter by the rabbis of Jaffa headed by the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Zvi Halevi to the rabbis of Badatz Chassidim of Jerusalem about the Kashrus of a woman who was considered Pesulah. 1918.
The rabbis detail the rumors about the woman’s deeds yet determine that the Beis Din of Jerusalem should discuss the matter.
Rabbi Yosef Zvi Halevi (1874-1960) the son-in-law of Rabbi Naftali Hertz Halevi, the Rav of Tel-Aviv, Jaffa and the colonies. Since 1897 served as Dayan in Jaffa and after his in-law’s passing succeeded him as the Rav of Jaffa and the colonies during the years 1902-1904 and later as Rosh Av Beis Din of Tel-Aviv, Jaffa and the colonies. Authored the Sefer Hora’as Sha’ah on the Shemitah.
Rabbi Shlomo Zalman ben Rabbi Sheraga Shach (1846-1929) a descendant of Rabbeinu the Shach and the Vilna Gaon. Immigrated to Eretz Yisroel in 1904 and settled in Jaffa. Volunteered to served as Dayan of the beis Din of Tel-Aviv, Jaffa and the colonies and taught at the yeshiva of Rabbi Kook in Jaffa. Was murdered during the 1929 Palestine Riots.
The signature of the third signatory is blurred and unidentified.
