The holy Rav Rabbi Yaakov Shimon Padvia (ca. 1885-1941) the Admor of Kaloshek in Lodz, the son of Rabbi Yisroel Aharon Padvia (Perlov) of Opotshna and the great-grandson of the holy Rav Rabbi Yaakov David, the Admor HaZaken of Amshinov. Passed away in the Lodz Ghetto.
Rabbi Shlomo Goren (Goronchik) (1918-1994) – when he was seven, he immigrated with his parent from Poalnd to Kfar Chassidim and from there to Jerusalem. In his childhood studied at the Etz Chaim Talmud Torah and was considered an Iluy. When he was 12, he started his studies at the Hebron Yeshiva and received his Hora’ah Semicha when he was 17 from the greatest rabbis of his generation. That year, he published his first Sefer on the Rambam’s Hilchos Psulei HaMukdashim. Was the son-in-law of HaRav HaNazir Rabbi David Cohen and was a member of the Lehi and the Irgun underground movements. In 1948, he founded the IDF Military Rabbinate, which he headed. The Rav also dealt with Heiter Agunos and saw to the burial of IDF casualties. After his release from the army served as the Ashkenazic Rav and Rosh Avos Batei Hadin of Tel Aviv. During the years 1972-1982, served as the Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi of Israel. In his old age, served as Rosh Yeshiva of the Idra, by the Western Wall of Jerusalem. Authored Psakim, articles and many Seforim.
Semi-leather binding, stains, folds to the corners of some leaves, good condition.
