Rabbi Shemaryahu Gurary, the son-in-law of the Rebbe Rayatz of Lubavitch (1897-1989) was the son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Gurary, a Chassid of the Rebbe the Rashab. In his youth, he managed a yeshiva in Rostov and was arrested by the authorities for it. In 1921 married Mrs. Chana, the Rebbe Rayatz’ daughter and traveled with his great father-in-law to all the places to which he was exiled. In the USA too he was an enthusiastic activist of Chabad.
