Discovery! Sefer Issur VeHeter, by Rabbeinu Yonah the disciple of the author of Terumas HaDeshen. Ferrara, [1555]. With many handwritten important glosses that were printed in Yad Rama by Rabbeinu the Rema.
Sefer Issur VeHeter, one of the most important Seforim by the Acharonim. Some, mistakenly, attribute the Sefer to Rabbeinu Yonah of Girnodi yet it was authored by Rabbeinu Yonah who was a disciple of the author of Terumas HaDeshen. Avraham ben Ushaki Press, Ferrara, [1555].
This copy contains many glosses, in Geonic script, which looks exactly like the script of Rabbeinu the Rema.
Most of the glosses were printed (sometimes with varied additions) in Sefer Yad Rama – the Sefer Hagahos by Rabbeinu Meor HaGolah Rabbi Moshe Isserles which was owned by the great Posek Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margolis of Brod.
It should be noted that many of the glosses appearing in this Sefer Issur VeHeter were not printed in Yad Rama and others were written with additions.
We assume that this rare manuscript was one of the manuscripts written by Maran Rabbi Moshe Isserles – which he had and on which he worked in Sefer Issur VeHeter and on which he wrote his Psikah and of which many parts were not printed. Although, we are careful not to make an unequivocal statement on the matter of which of the comments were written by the Rema and which by one of his disciples.
Some of the glosses are in a different script which was definitely identified as not being that of the Rema.
