The poem was printed with minor textual varioations in the Sefer Mei Menuchos by the author.
Rabbi Raphael Berdugo (1749-1822) was one of the greatest Sages adn Poskim of Morocco. His father was Rabbi Mordechai of Meknes, a descendant of Rabbi Moshe Berdugo "Hamashbir". He was orphaned at the age of 15, and studied Torah in abject poverty, as he wrote himself in one of his Seforim that he learned: "מתוך הטירוף ומתוך יוקר השער ומתוך חוסר כל ירחם השם". Later, he was appointed Dayan and then Av Beis Din in his hometown and was accepted in all Moroccan communities as the foremost Posek of the time. Authored many Seforim, including: Mishpatim Yesharim, Chessed VeEmes, Rav Peninim and more.
