Special and rare letter of recommendation handwritten by the Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Brisk of Tashnad, to his beloved disciple – 1929.
"… for memorizing the entire tractate of Kiddushin for beginning to end…"
The Gaon blesses the young disciple: "May he rise and grown in Torah and Te’udah as the pray of his loving teacher here in Tashnad … 1929".
His signature at the end of the certificate.
Enclosed is material about the disciple, Reb Yaakov Sheinberg, which a response to him appears in Shut Maharam Brisk.
Condition: prominent creases, signs of cutting to the edges.
The Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Brisk was born in 1886 to his father the holy Gaon Rabbi Yehoshua of Brisk Av Beis Din of Tisa-Dada and his mother, the daughter of the holy Gaon Rabbi Menachem Gershon Greenwald Rosh Av Beis Din of Bodrag-Kerestor the son-in-law of the holy Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Zalman Weinberger Av Beis Din of Margeretin.
Served as Dayan in Margaretin and since 1919 as the Rav of Tashand and the vicinity. He also headed the largest yeshiva of Romania in the years before the Holocaust. His responses were published in Shut Maharam Brisk, which was published during the war. Perished with his wife and children in Auschwitz in 1944.
