Large collection of letters written by the faithful Chassid Rabbi Yosef Sternberg, the confidante of the holy Rav Rabbi Yisroel of Chortekov, with important details about the royal court.
In one of the letters, he writes with intense emotion about repeating the Torah of the holy Rav of Chortekov ‘I am also sending him the holy Torah of the holy Admor Shalita … believe me my friend that the when he spoke the Torah he elevated us all upwards. All his holy limbs were shaking, the Shekhina is speaking from his mouth, May G-d have mercy upon us and all Yisroel and he live a long and good life … Vayerah 1928’.
In another letter, he expresses his gratitude for the money of the Ma’amados that was sent to the holy Rav of Chortekov which supported the family of his holy sons. The loyal Gabai asks that the philanthropist not to write the names of the holy Rav’s sons to whom the money was sent, but write in general ‘for the sons’ so that the Rav will be able to continue to support with these funds the widow of his son the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Chaim Aahron who passed away in his father’s lifetime.
In addition, during the Nazis’ rise to power in 1933, the Gabai mentions the stress caused by the terrible situation to the Rav.
[7] letters handwritten and signed by the Gabai and with his stamp. ‘At the house of the holy Admor Shalita’. Sizes vary. Very good general condition.
