Reciept and letter on the official stationery of the holy Rav Rabbi Moshe Bezalel Alter of Ger, on monetary matters and the family lottery business. Ger, 1935.
Official stationery of the holy Rav Rabbi Moshe Bezalel Alter, the son of Maran the Sefas Emes and the brother of the Imrei Emes of Ger, M.C. Alter – Moses Calka Alter or Moshe Bezalel, on whoch was written a letter in Yiddish about a shipment of funds and lottery tickets of the family business managed by his wife the pious Rebbetzin Mrs. Chaya Sarah Alter, the daughter of the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Shimon Alter the brother of Maran the Sefas Emes.
The handwriting of the letter, by a member of the holy Rav Rabbi Moshe Bezalel’s family, is similar to that of the Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Leibel the son of the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Meir the son-in-law of the Imrei Emes. The Tzaddik Rav Rabbi Leibel was the son-in-law of his uncle the holy Rav of Ponovezh.
An additional document: confirmation by the authorities that they have received the money of the lottery and their payments to Moszek Calka Alter. Dated 14VIII.35 [August 14, 1935].
The holy Rav Rabbi Moshe Bezalel Alter [1868-1942] the second son of the holy Rav the Sefas Emes of Ger and the brother of the holy Rav the Imrei Emes of Ger. Was revered by thousands of Chassidim and was renowned as a great, knowledgeable and diligent Torah scholar. The confidante of his older brother. The Ba’al Toke’ah of the holy court. Perished in the Holocaust with most of his large family.
