Lengthy and important Psak Halacha, on four pages, handwritten by Maran Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Wosner author of Sheves Halevi, dealing with the Dinim of the Shehechiyanu blessing.
”He who knows the great spiritual burden imposed on me will judge me favorably if I do not respond at all or only shortly’. These words open a lengthy responsum sent to the ‘dear important rabbinic R. David Hacohen Rosenberg’, handwritten entirely by Maran the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Wosner.
The responsum refers to a responsum by Maran the Chasam Sofer elucidating the Rashba’s words in a certain manner while Maran the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Wosner writes that the Pshat is not like he said ‘
כאשר יראה המעיין אבל מי יבוא אחר המלך’.
The responsum was hand-signed by him ‘I am his friend … expecting G-d’s mercy Shmuel Halevi Wosner’. The responsum was printed in his famed Sefer Shut Sheves Halevi.
Maran the great Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Wosner [1913-2015] one of Gedolei Hador, Amud Hora’ah. Most of the Morei Hora’ah and Poskim of the recent generation were his disciples or members of his Beis Din. He was a leading disciple of Maran the Maharam Shapiro of Lublin and the Mashgi’ach Rabbi Shimon of Zelichiv, Rabbi Shmuel David Unger of Nietra and Rabbi Yosef Elimelech Kahana of Ungvar.
On the advice of Maran the Chazon Ish, he was appointed the Rav of Zichron Meir. Already in his youth, Maran Kedosh Aharon of Belz said of his yeshiva and Beis Hora’ah that ‘four cubits of Halacha in our days are located in Zichron Meir with Rabbi Wosner’.
